Annie
Leonhart

Annie was abandoned as a baby and raised by a man who wanted a Warrior in the family for the status it would buy him. He trained her in martial arts until she was strong enough to cripple him, and she did, and he thanked her for it. The day she left for Paradis he broke down, told her everything he had taught her was wrong, and begged her to come back alive. That promise is the whole of her war. She never cared about Marley, Eldia, or saving the world. She wanted to go home to her father.

As the Female Titan she was the most lethal of the three infiltrators. She wiped out veteran Scouts by the dozen on the 57th expedition, killed Levi's entire squad, and captured Eren before Levi and Mikasa cut him back out of her jaws. On Reiner's orders she stripped Marco's gear so a Titan could eat him, and she wept while it happened. Armin trapped her in Stohess with the gear she had taken from Marco, and rather than be taken she sealed herself in a crystal, where she stayed for four years, conscious, listening to Armin and Hitch talk at her.

Eren's Rumbling dissolved every hardened structure in the world, including her crystal. She woke into a war she wanted no part of, told Hitch she would do it all again if it meant reaching her father, and joined the alliance against Eren for exactly that reason. When the route to Liberio proved impossible she admitted she was done fighting, and it was Armin, the person she had somehow come to care for through the crystal, who pulled her back in. She found her father alive among the refugees at Fort Salta, and three years later she was on the ambassadors' ship to Paradis, the only one of them who never wore the wings.
