Historia
Reiss

Historia was the unwanted child of Rod Reiss and his mistress, raised on a farm by a mother whose only embrace was a shove and who said out loud that she wished she had killed her. After Wall Maria fell, the family fixer Kenny Ackermann cut her mother's throat in front of her, and the price of Historia's own life was a new name, Christa Lenz, and an order to be no one. She built a saintly, self-sacrificing persona out of the deal, and Ymir, the one person who knew the truth, spent years needling her to drop it and live for herself. On the rubble of Utgard she kept her promise to Ymir and took her real name back.

Her father found her again only because he needed her blood. In the crystal cavern under the chapel he put the syringe in her hands and asked her to become a Titan, eat Eren, and inherit the Founding Titan along with her murdered sister Frieda's memories. Historia smashed the syringe on the floor, threw Rod over her shoulder, and unchained Eren herself. When Rod licked the spilled serum and became a Titan twice the Colossal's size, she joined the soldiers who killed it, and she took the throne on her own terms, as the queen who slew her father, then spent her reign running an orphanage.

When Zeke's deal required her to inherit the Beast Titan and breed royal heirs for generations, she said she would do it if it kept the island alive. Her pregnancy put the plan on ice through the whole Jaegerist crisis, and the military gossiped about the farmhand father while the war decided everything without her. Eren had told her what he knew of the future before he left. Her verdict, after the Rumbling, was that the future was never his choices alone, but everyone's, and that if people must keep fighting, it should be so that one day they no longer need to.
